There are some cities you just don’t want to miss and Chicago is one of them. I’ve had the pleasure of travelling there three times in the last two years and so when my friend Liane Faulder said it was top of her bucket list, I designed a great trip for her to lead with my company Alberta Food Tours, Inc.

From Thursday, October 12 to Monday October 16, 2017, you are invited to join Alberta Food Tours, Inc’s food tour leader Liane Faulder as she travels with a small group of devoted food adventurers to experience one of the great eating – and entertainment – centers in the United States – Chicago, the Windy City!
Liane has been a writer with The Edmonton Journal for over 30 years and has led 10 previous culinary excursions across Canada, the United States and Europe. Chicago has been on her bucket list for a long time and it was my delight to design this itinerary for her and her guests to enjoy in partnership with my trusted colleagues at Indus Travels.
With some 2.7 million residents, Chicago is big enough to be home to a large number of innovative chefs experimenting with new food trends while continuing to nurture the signature flavours of Chicago, including deep dish pizza, hot dogs, Mexican food and the classic steak.
Named in 2015 as one of the 10 best food cities in the United States by the Washington Post, the city boasts an Eataly – one of chef Mario Batali’s signature food halls. There, as one of Liane’s guests, you will enjoy a pizza cooking class, and the chance to make your own delicious Neapolitan-style pie – served with wine – and yielding recipes that can bring Chicago home to your own kitchen when the trip is over.
You’ll also visit celebrity chef Rick Bayless’ Frontera Grill for Mexican fare, plus sample an Asian feast at Sunda – an award-winning restaurant representing America’s New Asian movement.

During your four-night stay, you will enjoy action packed food tours and numerous rich eating experiences, while still having time to enjoy other exciting elements offered by the city – from great live theatre and jazz, to a tour of The Art Institute of Chicago and the city’s renowned architectural society boat tour.
This tour is limited to 14 guests, so book now to make sure you are firmly at the center of Liane’s food, fun and adventure tour of Chicago.

I know Shawnee. Our trip inspired this one for Liane. You can attest to how magnificent Chicago is from the magnificent mile to millennium park and beyond! Hugs, K
Sound like a lot of fun Karen. I would love to take this tour. Which is the food you liked the most?
Hi Irma,
I’m a huge fan of Rick Bayless so going to his restaurant, Frontera Grill, was fantastic. I hope you get to visit Chicago. Thanks for reading my blog post.
