Art Installation No. 35 – Cover Me in Sunshine

Thanks to P!nk and her daughter Willow Sage Hart for giving us Art Installation No. 35 – Cover Me in Sunshine – on this blog. Songwriters Maureen Mcdonald (Mozella) and Amy Allen created lyrics filled with hope. It’s a perfect song to keep us centred in the second year of this pandemic.

The video with P!nk and her daughter going about their daily life reminds us that joy can spring from the common – even the chores of daily living. Stopping to notice the little gifts in Nature’s details is a key. Instead of living in the past or the future, the onus is on us to bring joy to today. But how do we do that you ask?

For me, spending some time each day going inside, meditating, allows me to handle whatever is going on on the outside with substantial equanimity. I’m not perfect. But, I’m striving. And, I’m practicing. I am blessed to have a guru to guide me. And, most days after meditating, I can generate my own sunshine no matter what’s going on. I’ve posted an introduction to meditation here. You never know where it might lead you.

There’s never been a more important time to be conscious and aware. Perhaps your own desire for life to cover you in sunshine will lead you inward too. I love how this sweet, simple song inspires me to keep on my path and savour it all.

Lyrics for Cover Me in Sunshine

written by Maureen McDonald and Amy Allen

I’ve been dreaming of friendly faces
I’ve got so much time to kill
Just imagine people laughing
I know some day we will
And even if it’s far away
Get me through another day

Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world’s been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine

From a distance all these mountains
Are just some tiny hills
Wildflowers, they keep living
While they’re just standing still
I’ve been missing yesterday
But what if there’s a better place?

Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world’s been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright

Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world’s been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine

Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world’s been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine

*And thanks to my friend Nicole Liboiron-Coles for sharing this song with me. It really helps me savour it all.
